He was a member of our Board of Governors from the early days of the organization. He was also a close friend of Mr. Imran Khan, in both philanthropy and later in politics. He was a very popular figure among Pakistani expatriates in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and was known for his compassion and generosity. Sadly, he succumbed to cancer towards the end of 2016.<br \/>\n\u200b<\/p>\n<p style='padding-left:0px !important;'>\nThe Ahsan Rashid Memorial Medal was established in 2017. It is awarded to the highest-ranked research presented at the annual Shaukat Khanum Cancer Symposium. Each year, the best free papers compete for the medal in a session which is adjudicated by an esteemed panel of judges in front of a large audience.
