As of 2025, this honour has been awarded to five outstanding researchers, each advancing the fight against cancer through their research.<\/p>\n<p style='margin: 0 0 20px 0px !important; padding-left:0px !important;'>\n<strong>About the Award: <\/strong>The Bashir\u2011Alavi Award celebrates the best research article published from Pakistan in the field of oncology. It was co\u2011founded by:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Dr. Humayun Bashir: Consultant in Nuclear Medicine at Kent &#038; Canterbury Hospital, UK, and an alumnus of SKMCH&#038;RC<\/li>\n<li>Professor Abass Alavi: A global icon in nuclear medicine and molecular imaging<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style='margin: 0 0 20px 0px !important;padding-left:0px !important;'><strong>Honouring a Legacy: <\/strong> The year 2026 marks 50 years since Professor Alavi and his team performed the first\u2011ever human FDG PET scan in 1976, a breakthrough that transformed cancer diagnosis and treatment for millions.
